Double Strand Leopard Skin Custom Order Necklace

This piece is a recent custom order I made. It was a lot of fun to do. It was made to match a leopard skin jasper bracelet that I had made last year. She also wanted a magnetic clasp because she loves her magnetic clasp on her bracelet.

It is a double strand necklace with leopard skin jasper, emperial jasper, fancy jasper, ocean jasper and matte glass seed beads. She's very happy with it and that puts a smile on my face too!

Potted Flowers on the Porch

I haven't potted flowers for 3 years, since my youngest, Noah, came along, lol. Walmart had geraniums for $1 each, so I decided to go for it this year. I have plenty of lovely compost, so here they are! I'm really into the intensely bright colors this year.

Kelsey helping with the watering. We're really enjoying their beauty and color.

Geraniums are my personal favorite for a potted flower. They come in many colors and are either vining or regular plants. They do very well in part sun/part shade.

Petunias and impatients are also very nice. Petunias need direct sun and will tolerate part shade. Impatients should not have direct sun and can do well with only shade. If I don't have a vining geranium then I like to add in some trailing type of flower or foliage such as vinca or sweet potatoe vines.

Take notice of your growing conditions before you buy. Do you have morning sun, all day sun, afternoon sun, shade, a covered porch? Your local nursery can help you make a good choice.

Purple Pearl and Carved Bone Bracelet with Hill Tribe Silver Accents

I call this piece Neoclassic Heather because it has a sort of antique feel with the pearls and carved bone, but there is also a modern edgey element with the hill tribe silver toggle and discs and swarovski bicone crystals. Carved bone has come back into fashion recently and is used by many beading artists.
At first the thought of carved bone might seem unpleasant, but the idea does grow on you if you give it a chance, ha ha ha. If you think about it; it was no doubt one of the more available materials that could be used for jewelry from the beginning of mankind. I'm sure rocks and shells and pearls (which also come from animals) have always been admired for their prettiness, but look at how this bone can be carved into a beautiful pattern. Interesting!
This piece is available here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8601149 and will fit a smaller wrist; about a size 7 or smaller.

Elvis lives!!!

That is, our rooster Elvis! He has such an Elvis hair doo, Elvis strut and Elvis coolness, lol! Isn't he a pretty boy?
He's a barred rock plymouth chicken, my sister Jamie brought to me from Independence. She found him on craig's list. One of the aracauna hens is standing behind him here....It may be Robin or Nosey. Hard to tell from the back side, ha ha ha.

Wild Purple Garden Phlox

This purple flower is growing wild in our fence lines. Isn't it pretty?! I should move it to my yard but there is too much poison ivy nearby. My sons cut these for me and put them in a vase. Wasn't that sweet?! They are thoughful boys.
